Today marked the completion of the latest batch of a large order for JB82 Fire extinguisher cabinets destined for the TCO Chevron-Tengiz expansion project in Kazakhstan. The export order was won by Worcester Electrical who are supplying all 1316 portable fire extinguisher cabinets along with other equipment.

Jo Bird have been supplying Chevron over many years as the project has evolved. During this time they have proved their durability in the harsh winters and hot summers found on the Kazakh steppe and so remain the manufacturer of choice when it came to needing more.

The number of portable fire extinguishers is a reflection of the shear scale of this oil field. The website for TCO states three is estimated to be 3.2 billion tons of oil still in the ground and the column of oil is one mile across! Chevron is upgrading the field to improve production efficiency and reduce harmful emissions too. The photo shows three of the Jo Bird production team with the last lot of JB82s at the factory in Somerset.
